After living in Paris for several years, I came back to Melbourne and completed my PhD at the University of Melbourne in 2007. My first book, a study of anti-Catholicism in a trans-Atlantic framework, was published in 2010. I teach and research in American and European history, and have a particular interest in investigating the historical connections between nation-states in the modern era.
In 2012 I was awarded an Australian Research Council early career fellowship for a project entitled Secularism in nineteenth century America: a history. This project investigates the history of Church/State separation after the Revolutionary era, and the battles over the dividing line between religion and politics.
