Dr. David Higgins is a practicing general pediatrician, preventive medicine specialist, and health services researcher. His research focuses on improving the health of children, adolescents, and their communities by strengthening vaccine delivery, communication, and confidence. He also teaches health students and residents about pediatrics and preventive medicine.

His experiences as a community pediatrician, academic physician, scientist, and public health advisor have given him a deep understanding of public health and policy, health services delivery, disease prevention, research, and education. He is also an experienced speaker and writer, and his work has appeared in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, CBS News, the Denver Post, and other media outlets.

After completing a Howard Hughes Research program and graduate training at Colorado State University, Dr. Higgins obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed post-doctoral training programs, including associate and chief residencies, in pediatrics and public health/general preventive medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Colorado School of Public Health, and the University of Colorado School of Medicine
