I am a geneticist and group leader at the John Curtin school of Medical Research, The Australian National University. I am running a research group and a transgenesis facility generating models for human diseases using gene editing technologies.
My research interests focus on biology of the interaction between the host organism and its pathogens (bacteria or parasite) using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology. My goal is to uncover novel ways to combat deadly infectious diseases such as malaria or hospital acquired infections.
I am also interested in higher education and science funding policies.
